Make your own seaweed skincare and haircare (natural cosmetics).

Seaweed is the name given to species of marine plants and algae that grow in oceans, rivers, lakes and other bodies of water. It ranges greatly in size, colour, and texture, and can even grow in such large ‘forests’ that they overtake entire regions of beaches and shorelines.

It is perhaps the most beneficial and abundantly available natural ingredient for skincare on the planet. According to research, some seaweed contains 10 to 100 times more vitamins and minerals per unit of dry mass than land based plants or animal derived foods

Seaweed has long been used in beauty treatments, from the age-old Irish tradition of bathing in seaweed, to the modern day seaweed spa body wraps. With over 30,000 known species of seaweed in the ocean, this powerful plant is loaded with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and proteins.

Luckily you do not need to live at the coast and collect fresh seaweed in order to enjoy its benefits for the skin and hair. Beautiful natural cosmetics and treatments can easily be made at home using packets of edible dried seaweeds that you can buy from health shops and suppliers. Vivienne will share her recommended suppliers of ingredients during this class

Make and try Seaweed Skincare & Haircare (natural cosmetics) Treatments

This 1 day class teaches some of the skin & hair-care benefits of seaweed (inside & out!). The ingredients used are natural, organic, and kind to the environment.

Learn about the properties of seaweeds: vitamins, minerals and other beneficial compounds. Make different DIY extracts to capture these.

We will make a range of natural cosmetics and skincare & haircare treatments from them such as:

• DIY seaweed shower gel and face masks
• Nourishing hair & scalp tonic
• Bath products
• Masks and mousses
• Nourishing facial serums and creams

We will relax while we experience these during our Spa Session. And you’ll also get to bring home samples of all the products that we make on the day.

Please note:

During the class we will make beautiful seaweed extracts and numerous natural cosmetics with seaweed. Everyone gets to bring home a set of the seaweed products that we have made on the day. These are made using certified organic seaweeds, herbs and ingredients sourced by Vivienne. These materials (ingredients & packaging) cost £45 per person and this is payable directly to Vivienne on the day. In addition to this, should you want to buy ingredients to bring home with you so that you can go on to make your own seaweed skincare, at the end of class there will be an additional  ‘Shop Session’ during which you can browse and purchase ingredients.
