Soft Tissue Release (STR) is the combination of movement and manipulation. It is a wonderful technique that produces safe and effective results very quickly in a wide variety of treatment situations.
Learn this technique and you will extend your ‘repertoire’ and make your treatments more effective! It helps to restore normal flexibility to a muscle and is particularly useful when a muscle becomes very tense and shortened. You will usually use STR after you have ‘warmed up’ and muscle with lighter techniques such as effleurage.
Soft Tissue Release is a method of lengthening muscles therefore helping to overcome overall muscle imbalances. You can administer the technique simply by applying and maintaining a pressure, or `locking` into the relevant tissues whilst simultaneously stretching away aligning fibres. It is adaptable and you can incorporate it into any basic massage routine PLUS you can use through clothing. As a result, you will discover that these techniques will complement your on-site work, such as Indian Head Massage.
